Q: Canon Pixma mg3220 wireless scanning with MBP 10.11.6

Suddenly, from one day to the next, the wireless scanning function no longer works between my MBP (OS 10.11.6) and the Canon Pixma MG3220 printer/scanner. I downloaded the most up to date Canon driver, but that eliminates option to use Image Capture.

What to do to restore wireless function? Is it workable to uninstall this latest driver and reinstall the Mini Master driver from Canon, good through OS 10.8?

MacBook Pro, OS X El Capitan (10.11.6), iPad mini WiFi, 9.3, iPhone 9.3

If you haven't done so already, try resetting the printing system.

To scan with Image Capture you need an ICA driver. Here is the link to v4.0.0 of the ICA driver that supports the MG32xx series. Install this and then check if the MG3220 appears under the Shared view of Image Capture.

Canon also provides a TWAIN scanner driver that lets you use their My Image Garden application to scan or any other software that supports TWAIN. The installation of the TWAIN scanner driver will not stop you from using Image Capture, so I am not sure why you think that is the case.

Note that if you are still printing via wireless, then this shows that you still have a working wireless connection from the Mac to the MG and there is no additional setting that you need to perform on the MG to make it available for scanning.

I reinstalled all the printer and scanner drivers and double-checked the wi-fi connection info and codes, which was the same as before the dysfunction occurred. Again, the scanner worked with USB connection, but when trying wi-fi the error messages below came arrived. But there were no obstructions between the router and the scanner and no security software or firewalls interfering with the wireless connection.

Then I remembered that, between one day using the scanner and the next, internet service with Charter disappeared. Wi-fi connections on my laptop and other devices resumed once Charter service was up again, but apparently that outage affected the router's connection with the printer-scanner. Once I unplugged the modem and router and replugged them after a few minutes, the scanner started working on wi-fi again.

I thought the notes coming with the driver updates from Canon said Image Capture would no longer work, but in fact it does work as an interface with the scanner.
