Q: All clips in timeline are now showing as one long clip
This one is odd. I opened up a project I was working on today and the timeline was blank. I then added the one "synced" clip in order to recreate it. Instead of the raw unedited clip being added to the now blank timeline, the whole project reappeared. But, all the edit points, transitions, etc are gone. It plays back correctly but, for example, where I have the text at the end coming in, there is no text, nor fade out. Basically nothing. It's as if final cut imported the finished exported file I made yesterday. When I click on the big file in the timeline and look under video properties it says: Location-(Multiple Files). But, there's nothing to reveal in finder. I also tried loading a backup from yesterday with the same exact result. Within the big clip there's no way to go back and turn of effects or alter anything as it's completely rendered. Also, I made sure and this has not been turned into a compound clip.
Final Cut Pro X, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5), 32gb ram

Tom already gave you the answer. I understand these things may be confusing at first, so let me add a little more explanation.
1) A project is where you'd want to make your edits. You realized yours was empty.
Important visual Hint: a project is recognizable by this icon: ![]()
In your screenshot, you have one project, called "Star Spangled Banner".
2) A clip is a representation of any media you imported into FCP X, or a combination thereof. I see three clips (one video, one audio and the synchronized clip) in your screenshot, one of them is a synchronized clip, "Start Spangled Synced".
3) The timeline shown in your screenshot is that of your project (again, note the icon
above it).
It WAS empty, but not because of some glitch. As Tom said, you unbeknowingly made your edits inside the
"Start Spangled Synced" timeline. That is why when you added this synced clip to the project you now see everything as you edited it to look.
Don't worry, this is a common beginner's mistake.
I suggest you leave as is for this one, and in the future make sure you are on the intended timeline - again, the icon above is a pretty good clue.
