Q: Software Update - now AirPlay only send audio, no video

HI all,

Hope Someone can help!

I Have an iPad 2 and an iPad air 2, both of which I stream to my tv via an Apple TV 2 and AirPlay.

I Have recently updated the software on my air, but now my airplay icon on this has changed to a speaker/iPod icon and I can only stream audio - no video!

MY ipad 2, which has not been updated for at least a year, still has the original AirPlay icon and is still able to stream as normal, so this must be something to do with the software update (9.3.5 is my current os, but the one before this a couple of weeks ago also had the same AirPlay problem),

HAve tried rebooting various things, but nothing changes - audio only on the air.

SUggestions welcome!

Update hasn't been live that long, but I can't replicate the issue and haven't yet seen other reports. Just to clarify, is the icon showing like that for everything or only certain apps?

You mention rebooting 'various things' but just in case you hadn't done the router I would suggest to do so. Also try a hard reset (hold power and home button until the Apple logo appears). Try testing on another network or taking it to Apple to see if the issue continues.

    Hi,

When I 'swipe up' on the iPad to put it into AirPlay mode, that is where the icon has changed.

I have read other people who also get this different 'speaker icon', but their problems are similar to mine in as much that they get sound only, no video, but different in as much that it appears to be only for certain apps - Netflix or iTunes for example.

Try rebooting the ATV and power off and then back on your router
