Q: Welsh Flag Emoji

I have noticed this evening while browsing through the flag emojis to find a random flag as I was particularly bored, it was early in the morning and I thought I was hilarious when I noticed there was no Welsh flag. I know it may not be important but it was important to me and some of my friends... not impressed. I thought better of you Apple, I really did. I haven't even seen 20% of these flags so why not just chuck in a Welsh flag to make 80% of Wales actually feel like they have a purpose... Just sort it out. Thank you.

Peace out homie.

Love you, bye xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Apple doesn't create emojis. They are defined by the Unicode Consortium. Apple then provides them on Apple devices. If you think about it, if Apple created their own emojis then when you sent a message to someone using a non-Apple product they would see only gobbledygook. Apple has a seat on the Unicode Consortium, but they are only one vote.

The other consideration is that the current flag emojis are country flags only. As Wales is not a country (at least not at this time, and it hasn't been since the 13th century thanks to King John) the standards would not include it. There's no Scottish flag, either, and none of the 50 United States state flags or 10 provinces of Canada appear, among many other worldwide subdivisions.

What I can suggest is that you create a Welsh flag image file and include it in your sig.
