Aug 28, 2016 8:01 PM in response to David Goldstein1by elcpu,You will have to have both devices connected to a power source. iOS devices disconnect from any Wi-Fi when sleep and not on power to conserve battery life. Also there is no method to connect iPhones through Bluetooth.

Aug 29, 2016 2:26 PM in response to David Goldstein1by kh333,I got new iPhone s plus this month, and I noticed same problem after the update.
the hotspot getting very weak and disconnecting countinusly. I tried all kinds of reset, restart, reconnect with various devices.
If apple not resolving this issue or its dealer not replacing it, then I we'll never buy any product from Apple.

Aug 29, 2016 2:33 PM in response to kh333by gdgmacguy,Have you tried the solution that elcpu suggested?
BTW, as we are users here, not Apple, statements like "I we'll [sic] never buy any product from Apple" means nothing to us, and just makes you look silly.
Please try the solution elcpu suggested and let us know if that worked. I'm sure we'll get your problem fixed!
Best,
GDG
