Q: Photo in Messages not showing

Hello - I have a Macbook Pro that is operating on OS X El Capitan version 10.11.6.  Until two days ago, when someone would send a picture through messages, could see the picture. For some reason, I am not longer able to see the picture, and it wants me to download the photo.   At the same time that I cannot see the photo on my Mac, I can see it on my iPhone.  What is going on? How can I see photos that I am receiving, within messages? Thank You - Robin

    Hello MsRobin,

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities. I know having an issue with seeing pictures in the Messages app on your Mac is not what you expect. Based on what you stated, it seems you maybe having issues with your Mac receiving and syncing the pictures from message threads that work on your iPhone. Based on that, I would narrow down and resolve this with these steps:

    1. First, let’s refresh the iMessage account syncing with the server by signing out and back into your account. From the menu bar, choose Messages > Preferences, then click Accounts. Click iMessage in the left column, then click Sign Out. Then restart your Mac and then sign back into iMessage and test the issue again.

    2. You can figure out if unexpected behavior is related to user file or setting by trying to reproduce the issue from another user account. This process includes creating a new user account, logging in to it, and testing for the issue.
