Q: Set a reminder for a sent email?

hi All,

I send a lot of emails to my suppliers asking questions that require an answer. problem is if i don't hear back from them in a few days i forget and it ends up with my customers getting very frustrated with me. Is there a way i can have a reminder set for an email i send to someone that i need a response to? would be good to have a button or something i can click while composing my email so that it triggers a series of follow up reminders?

Thanks

What I have done is to create a mailbox marked Waiting.   Then, using 'colors', I have reserved one colour for waiting answers, I highlight the mail item, then, on the color palette, click on the reserved color then transfer the mail item to the 'waiting' mailbox.   I don't just transfer the mail uncolored because that makes the contents look the same as any other mailbox and could be accidentally deleted..

    EDIT.

And of course you can use the iCloud reminder option if you use iCloud

    hi there

    thanks for the ideas.

    1. what do you mean by colours? flags?
    2. Do you have to go to sent items after you've sent it and drag it anywhere? to another folder?
    3. what reminds you to that email?

    thanks

In Mail, top menu Format, you will find an item, show colours.   Click on that for colour options you can use.

In the mail boxes you would have the 'Waiting' box.   Everything waiting an answer should have been put in there immediately after sending.

In subject start with name of supplier.   J Bloggs. followed by date, 12.12.16

iCloud provides for individual reminders, I believe, but I am avoiding using iCloud.  Its a personal thing.   I don't like it.   And I've used my system for ages.

Additionally, in Mail > Top menu > View > Customise toolbar, you will find the colour palette which you can put in your top menu and click on to use it.

You might also look into a service such as Followupthen.com. I've found if very useful for creating that type of reminder.
