Q: Apple Music unexpectedly skips to next song!

Greetings!

 

  • I can play my own purchased music in iTunes. No problems at all.
  • When I try to play any song/song list in Apple Music it skips to next song. And next. With one second delay. Apple Music is currently unusable.

 

I have used Apple Music without any problems for about 6 months.

 

Latest iTunes (12.4.3.1) and OS X (10.11.6) installed on a Mac Pro.

 

Any thoughts?

    Hello Wognum,

     

    Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities!

     

    It is my understanding that when using Apple Music it continually skips to the next song, without playing any of them.  I will try my best to help with this.

     

    The first thing I would do is backup everything that is on the computer.  Nothing I am going to suggest should cause any data loss, but it is always a good idea to have a backup.  Your computer has software on it called Time Machine.  It is fantastic software for backing up your computer.  Information on how to use Time Machine is available here:

    Assuming that all other internet access is working correctly, it is important to try to isolate what is causing this to happen.  The first thing to do to help isolate what is causing the problem is set up a test user account and see if Apple Music will work correctly there.  Follow all the instructions that you find on this page: 

    How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac

     

    If the issue does not happen in the test user account, then you are going to want to check the login items in the account where Apple Music will not play.  Try removing the login items and see if it plays correctly.

    Dear Brenden,

    I did what you suggested. Logged into my guest account and Apple Music worked just fine!

     

    My solution?

    I opened iTunes on my ordinary account logged out and in again. And now it works as expected. Thanks!
