Q: Boot Camp creates two USB Installers

I am trying to install Win10 on my late 2012 iMac - I get through the bootcamp with no problem - I installs windows without a problem but when it restarts to load windows it freezes on the get things going fast screen with no keyboard or mouse response.

When I reboot I see the bootcamp software has created what looks like two USB installers (only one is actually plugged in) First is called WINDOWS - second is EFI boot - First allows me to install and format partition (however it is in very poor resolution maybe not 64 bit) the second EFI boot, (high resolution to fit screen) gives me error when formatting Bootcamp Partition (something about MBR partition and EFI systems and GPT disks)

Not sure what to do at this point. I have downloaded the 64 bit version 3 times and tried install threes times with the same problems.

Thanks

    openssl md5 Win10_1607_English_x64.iso

    MD5(Win10_1607_English_x64.iso)= 88b98698600511dcd69596df92b242e5

The Windows icon on the USB is the correct installer for your specific Mac year/model.

    Run the following two procedures...

Reset the System Management Controller (SMC) on your Mac - Apple Support

How to Reset NVRAM on your Mac - Apple Support

Disconnect all peripherals, except the USB Installer, choose the last Install/Remove option, partition and install Windows. Do not use Alt/Option key to interrupt the installer till you get to the partition selection screen.

Thanks - I got the first two parts - what do you mean when you say?

Disconnect all peripherals, except the USB Installer, choose the last Install/Remove option, partition and install Windows. Do not use Alt/Option key to interrupt the installer till you get to the partition selection screen.

Should I remove my windows partition and start over? I don't use the the Alt/Option key at anytime during installation, are you saying I should use it now when I get to the partition selection screen?

Sorry - not super familiar with all this so just trying to make sense of the steps - Thanks a lot for your help!

Can you post the output of

    diskutil list

    diskutil cs list

    sudo fdisk /dev/disk0

If you already have the partition for BC, run the two procedures, connect the USB installer, power cycle the Mac, hold Alt/Option and choose Windows (not EFI Boot) and try to install Windows.

Excellent. Please remember to back up OS X, Windows and create a Windows System Restore point.
