Go into settings and set it back up again... Settings>Touch ID & Passcode.

Who did you take it to for maintenance? What did you have done?

Thanks but that's my problem.  Where it says "add a fingerprint" the text is in grey where it should be in black.

My mistake was not bringing it to Apples' attention as soon as I realized this in their store when I got my phone fixed.

The phone was not charging so the rep took it in the back and said there was probably a speck of dirt in it so she cleaned it out.  Well, the phone did charge after that, for which I'm grateful for, but I did notice that I could not unlock it with my fingerprint.  I walked out of the store and thought this was probably a quick fix.  Wrong.

When I called Apple support the first person didn't have a clue and was not easy to hear.  I asked to speak to someone else.  The next person did help me in that she had me run a diagnostic which pointed to a hardware problem - which would cost over $300. to fix.  I'll  be waiting to purchase  the new iPhone (probably) or the iPhone 6 instead ( have 5s).

The lesson I learned today was if you notice something does not work - do not leave the Apple store.  Bring it to their attention immediately.

Take it back to the store that "fixed" it to begin with. Talk to the manager. Make sure they understand that it worked until they 'fixed' the charging problem.
