Q: Multicam Clip disabled but original media still there

I'm nearly at the end of a rather long project and all of my multicam clips are red with the caution triangle.  The original media, from which the multicam clip is composed of, is still there and accessible so this isn't a case of missing or unlinked media. This happens whether I'm viewing in original or proxy viewing.  There are two other projects in this library that are being edited in the exact same manner but they are all working perfectly.  My only saving grace is that the library works just fine on my laptop so I can power through the project on my MBP but would like to figure out the problem in case this happens in the future.  Is there a way to "repair" the multicam clip so that it can be updated without having to replace the old with the new?  That would be a pain.  Sorry if this has been covered in another thread but I was unable to find one.

My library is on an external drive and I have run first aid on it.

Strange.

Any advice would be appreciated.

WWhat do see when you open the multicam clip into the multicam editor?

    Thanks for the reply.

The project thumbnail has the red screen and yellow triangle.  It does not have the "missing media" text or any text for that matter.  All of the multicam clips have the red screen as well.

When I open one of the multicam clips, I still see the red screen but the audio and audio waveform is there.

Then, if I select a clip from the multicam clip and "open in timeline," I can see the original clip (the one that won't show up in my project timeline.)  Strange.Screen Shot 2016-08-29 at 1.55.37 PM.png

I assume the project doesn't play correctly. Can you post screenshots of the project and of the multicam editor?

Sure.  Here's the project from the timeline and the multiclip editor.Screen Shot 2016-08-29 at 2.06.19 PM.pngScreen Shot 2016-08-29 at 1.55.37 PM.png

Can tell but it looks like your project is set to show waveforms only. Check clip appearances.

That's not the multicam editor. Double click one of the multicam shots in the project to open it.

Just to be save make sure you're playback is set to original.

Hopefully this is more helpful.  See that the media is present in the component clips.  Still no dice in the timeline.  If I Screen Shot 2016-08-29 at 2.31.11 PM.pngScreen Shot 2016-08-29 at 2.35.23 PM.png

The first picture makes no sense. If you're in the multicam editor that you show there, with clip 4 selected and press Shift-F where do you go? Should go to a browser clip. If you use Shift-Cmd-R where do you go? Should take you to the media.

Is this external or managed media?

When select clip 4 in the multicam editor, clip 4 shows up in the event viewer/browser.  Nothing else.

Shift-Cmd-R locates clip 4 within the bundle in the correct place.

    "External or managed media?"

It's on an external drive and I have everything within the bundle and have had is set up that way for as long as I've been on fcpx.

That this library and project works on another computer is strange.  So my initial thought was that the multiclip data rested somewhere else on my other computer.

I really appreciate your help but if you need to move on to more productive uses of your time, I understand...

Inside the bundle is managed media.

Close the app. Go into the library bundle and try trashing the whole cache bundle, which is probably in there.

Relaunch the app and wait for the cache to rebuilt before you do anything in it.
