Jul 3, 2016 10:24 PM in response to bentleycrewby spidermonkeymike,I had this exact same problem. I updated my computer and my phone to the newest versions of the OS, and that solved it. I'm not sure if the problem was on my computer or my phone, but it's fixed now.

I never had any issue with iPhoto and love it.

Aug 28, 2016 7:54 PM in response to JonniJSby The Company Builder....,Also, as a thought: Even though I heard that your photos don't count against your iCloud space (please correct me if I'm wrong), I've found that it does. I still use the free 5GB of space allocated to me by iCloud, and if you have more than 5GB of files (including photos and videos), the iCloud Storage will say that it's full, and won't sync any more files to your laptop....
For instance, let's say you've recorded a series of videos and photos on your phone in a day (say, at a wedding), and that exceeds the 5GB of space. iCloud will say that your iCloud space is full, and the videos and photos that you shot on your iPhone won't show up on your laptop. So, to get around that, I normally hook it into a USB port on the Mac, and import them directly to the Mac, whether within the Photos app, or to an external hard drive (which is what I do as a Photographer), then import that folder into Adobe Lightroom for post-processing....
Then, once I've imported the files from the iPhone, I go back into the Photos app, and delete those videos and photos off the iPhone, which then clears up the space in iCloud....
Hopefully that helps!

It depends on the iCloud service you are using for your photos.
- My Photo STream and iCloud Photo Sharing are separate iCloud services and do not count against your free 5GB iCloud storage, but there are limits to the total number and the upload rates instead, see this link: iCloud: My Photo Stream and iCloud Photo Sharing limits
- iCloud Photo Library does count against the iCloud storage you subscribed to. If you have a large photo library, you need to sign up for more storage to keep the library in iCloud. See iCloud Photo Library FAQ

Aug 29, 2016 11:06 AM in response to bentleycrewby mydesigns,I need to be more specific. ( forgive me ) . My iphone5s is connected to my Mac directly via USB, Photos app is open and no video is visible for the past month and only 3 photos are showing to import. it means none of my 20 videos from the night before is showing to import. I can absolutely see them on my phone and play them. Also if I login to iCloud.com I can see everything and download them which I ended up downloading them via browser to my download folder and then save them to my hard drive- old fashion way. Still when I open Photos app, no video is available under import.
Very disappointed with Photos app.... I loved iPhoto!

That means, that iCloud Photo Library is enabled on your iPhone, or how else are the videos uploading to iCloud Photo Library?
The big problem is, that the USB import to your Photos Library on your Mac will no longer work well, if iCloud Photo Library has been enabled on your iPhone, i.e., if "optimize storage" is active. Your photos and videos will be in iCloud and only a few of them will be on the iPhone, in an optimized version, and so there is nothing to import on the iPhone, on the items, that have not been optimized.
If you are using iCloud Photo Library on the iPhone, use iCloud Photo Library to transfer the items.
