Q: How to convert iBooks file to epub?

Hi,

I used iBooks Author to create my iBook.

And now, I would like to convert my .ibooks file into .epub file.

How do I do that?

Thanks,

Steeve

Recreate your book using one of the iBA ePub templates and then export to ePub.

So, there is no way to export an iBooks Author's file to an ePub file?

My book is huge, with many interactivities. That would take me at least 6 months to recreate my book using the IBA ePub :-(

    Other uggestions?

    Thanks

No, you can see the possibilities in the Export menu for the template you used.

What is your specific goal in generating an epub version?   I believe the range of interactivity supported by iBA epub is more limited than in .ibooks format.

The most common app used by authors to make large, complex epubs is probably InDesign.

My iBooks are fully interactive math ebooks. But now, in schools, Chromebook is more and more popular.

So teachers are seeing my iBook and they love it! And they want the Chromebook version.

So I want to make my iBooks available for Chromebook users.

    Thanks,

Before you invest any time in recreating your book, I would recommend you investigate whether Chromebooks can support the kinds of interactivity you want to use (e.g. whether they already can read another book with similar features).    These devices have only limited capabilities in some areas.

Thank you Tom, I appreciate your help.

I can't wait the day when iBooks will be also available for other devices (than iPads, iPhones and Mac).

    Best,

It seems to me it should have been a no-brainer years ago to produce an ibooks app for Android and Windows.  After all this time it doesn’t look promising....
