Sep 2, 2016 7:32 AM in response to BLMediaby Antonio Rocco,★HelpfulIf your PCs can access the internet using your DC as their DNS server (which is the usual case in an Active Directory environment) then you shouldn't need to do anything else. However one man's idea of what DNS is, is not the same as another's. Anther thing you should be aware of is if your environment is using a proxy. In which case you may need to tweak this a bit so as Caching and access to it is not restricted in some way.
There are some potentially useful articles/guides you could look at first before going ahead:

Sep 2, 2016 7:31 AM in response to BLMediaby More Broccoli Please,You don't need to "point Apple devices to the caching server." Devices automatically discover caching servers using an Apple cloud service. A DNS TXT record is only needed if your organization uses more than one public IP address. If you set up a caching server on your network (and set the TXT record if needed), does it not "just work"?

Servers EnterpriseAt the time I wrote this question I was unaware of DNS requirements for multiple IPs, but read about people having to create DNS entries into their dns servers, hence the question. We do have two public IP addresses. Caching appeared to be hit or miss and I was racking my brain why. After reading Antonio's links I quickly realized that DNS entries would be required for us because, well, we do have two IPs (I felt dumb on that one :-) ).
I have temporarily set it to server "all networks" and it is working in a hit or miss fashion, but it is working. I am working on some other things at the moment, but when I get back to Caching early next week I will be researching the process for Multiple IPs and multiple VLANS...
thanks for the replies. I will mark the question solved as soon as I get it working.
