Q: Contact Apple (email preferrably) on Macbook Air Performances

Dear All,

I was given a Macbook Air 13' 3 years ago as a present but it is now starting to malfunction and I was wanting to contact Apple about the problem.

Unfortunately, I am in Madagascar for now and won't be returning to the Uk for another few months and critically need my computer. A telephone number won't do as it costs a small fortune to call anywhere outside the country which doesn't have any apple support.

My Mac automatically shuts down after about an hour of use (still full battery and still charges, the green light comes up on the charger port) and will start up again only after not touching the computer for a few hours. The least time I left it "dead" was for 5 minutes to then have the computer turn on for me to put in my password and shut down immediately. I have tried restarting it a few times, manually trying to force turn/off again but nothing. It's been like this for 2 weeks.

I understand I am not in my warranty anymore however if this is a serious problem with the computer, I cannot help to be disappointed it fails only after 3 years of mild use, not what I expected of an apple product (my family has one of the old old white thick ones that still function perfectly after all these years!!), hence why I would love to get in contact with Apple manufacturers.

I thank you for your help,

Amilee

    Hey amileefromtreborough,

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities. We can see from your post that your Mac is shutting down intermittently at random and can understand how that can interfere with your workflow. We'd be happy to provide you with some direction to resolve this. Below is a link that can help clarify what’s happening when your Mac spontaneously restarts:

OS X: When your computer spontaneously restarts or displays "Your computer restarted because of a problem."

Another step you can try is to reset the NVRAM on your Mac. This is the “Non-Volatile Random Access Memory” which refers to a small amount of special, battery-packed memory in every Mac that stores information the computer needs before it loads the operating system. If the values in this memory got out of whack for one reason or another, your Mac might exhibit any of numerous odd behaviors like the one you are experiencing now.

Check out this link to see how to reset the NVRAM:

Once you've done both, let us know if this helps.

    Cheers!
