Are the photos in the Shared albums photos you shared to the streams from your Mac or photos someone shared to you?
You can see that if you ctrl-click the photo in the Shared album. The contextual menu will either show "Import" or "Show in Moments".
- If it says "Import" you first need to import the photo by clicking "Import" as Larry described.
- If you are seeing "Show in Moment" instead, you can directly use the photo and drag it to the book project in the sidebar as explained by Larry. I prefer to reveal the photo in the moment with "Show in Moments" and drag from there. It will give you the better resolution version of the photo, since the photos in the shared albums may be reduced in pixel size and the metadata missing. I prefer to use the original versions I uploaded to the Shared albums, if they are in my Photos Library.
