Loss of GPS signal due to blocked line of site to the satellites. Any combination of the above...
If the phone has no cellular signal, and no WiFi signal for a period of time, it may drop completely off the map.

Aug 30, 2016 12:18 PM in response to sarumseyby turingtest2,There are some suggestions, but for what it is worth I've just had a look at my frequent locations and there are a lot of disjointed readings for me at home too. Whatever causes the iPhone to note down a set of location data I wouldn't pay too much attention to it. It is an approximation used for doing things like offering you local news & weather. It isn't meant to be used to track your movements minute by minute.
