Q: Problem with Macbook, it "turns off"and blocks suddenly

I bought a new macbook pro 13 inch retina display, early 2015 (bought in November 2015) Processor:2.7 GHz Intel Core i5, Memory: 8 GB 1867 MHz DDR3, Graphics: Intel Iris Graphics 6100 1536 MB, Version 10.10.5 OS X Yosemite. After a while of use (2 months aprox) I've been havin this problem: ocassionaly the screen turns black (like if it was shut down) and the trackpad blocks and doesnt click. When this happens the computer doesn't react with anything, and there is no way to make it turn on and work. Once it's "turned off"o whatever happens to it, nothing can be done bu to wait until it works again. When this first started to happen it stayed "turned off" and blocked for a couple of minutes or hours, but now when it happens it stays like that for several days or even weeks. I already took it to be fixed and seen, and they told me that the "mother board" was damaged, so they changed it for a new one, but anyway I keep having the same problem. This same problem also happens to people I know that have the same macbook as i do. I don't know what’s happening to this computers, can someone help me please? I really need this problem to be fixed quickly.

    • Note the time of the next freeze. When it works OK open the Console app in Finder>Applications>Utilities and look for log entries at the time of the freeze. Post suspicious ones here.

    Hi there,

I have the same problem. I have a MacBook Pro (retina, 13-inch, late 2013) which I bought in summer 2014.

Last December the laptop just went to sleep and didn't want to start again. I checked and followed the troubleshoot from Apple and ended up resetting the SMC multiple times until it finally turn on and everything was ok. I didn't have this problem ever again until May, the macbook started to turn off while being used and it wouldn't turn on. Once again, I ended up resetting the SMC multiple times and leaving the laptop for days until it finally start again.

SInce this incident in May, this incident happens every other day. The MacBook spends more time off than actually on and not sure what to do.

I called apple in the country I live and they told me to take it to a "genius" bar and so I did (there isn't a proper Apple Store here so I have to wait until I travel to take it in). Unfortunately, the genius I saw wasn't so genius and sent me home and told me that everything is ok. The problem is that the laptop either doesn't turn on or it will suddenly turn off.

The guaranty has expired so I don't have apple support anymore. Is there anything at all that I can do?

I took screenshots of the console from the last turn-off but the laptop is off again so I can't attached them -will post them here as soon as I can. The logic board was changed in summer 2015 due to a problem with the display (ramdon black lines were appearing when starting). And I just recently installed El Capitan as was told this may help but it clearly didn't.

Any advice will be appreciated, it is a very expensive piece to just leave unused.

    thanks
