DesktopsThree sites report that is not a valid serial number.
Please check the number carefully, paying special attention to letters and numbers commonly confused with each other, Oh and Zero, Q and Oh, 1 and L and I

DesktopsThat label looks like one a Vendor added later. Perhaps they made a transcription error.
It may be this model:
http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/mac_pro/specs/mac-pro-quad-2.66-specs.html
If it runs, choose:
menu > about this Mac ...
... and see what it says.

DesktopsThats not a Mac Pro, it's the previous generation, a PowerPC G5:
try clicking on the words "Version 10.4.11". In some versions that display the serial number.
This is the index to all PowerPC G5 models:

DesktopsIt appears they re-used a box that is similar in size.
The PowerPC G5 and Mac Pro (several models) are almost exactly the same size and shape chassis. The Mac Pro (intel processors) have TWO DVD Reader bays, the Power Mac G5 has ONE DVD Reader bay.

DesktopsHi guys, so I'm trying to get this machine up and running. There is nothing on it at the moment, only OS X 10.4.11
Can anyone advise me as to how I can get this machine up to spec? I've tried a couple of upgrade discs e.g. to OS X 10.5 but it isn't allowing me to install them. It says 'this version cannot be used on this machine' or something like that.
I've tried a DVD boot disk an external hard boot disk.
Any advice?

Aug 30, 2016 4:48 PM in response to alexfromwalthamstowby lllaass,★Helpful- Just what upgrade disks did you try?
What is written on the label?
Also, if the disk label has gray background that are disk shipped with a Mac and can only be used with the model Mac they were shipped with.
- The Power PC Macs can only go as high a 10.5.8.

Aug 30, 2016 1:31 PM in response to lllaassby alexfromwalthamstow,I tried ones from my previous mac, they have a gray background, so it must be that.
I can't even access system preferences or disk utility on the mac, or open PDF's, there is nothing on it!
What would you suggest I do from here? As I mentioned earlier, it is currently at 10.4.11 but I was given the machine from a friend, without any disks.

DesktopsLeopard installed without any problems, thanks for the advice :-)
The machine info now reveals a different serial number, which is strange? I'm guessing it must just have been in a different box!
I can't install Final Cut on it because it doesn't have an intel processor so it's not good for me.
Does anyone know roughly how much it might be worth?...
