Q: The last reported location for your iPhone for 24 hours

Hi all,

My phone was stolen around a month ago.

I have had four emails the past couple days notifying me -

"iPhone 6s"  Was Found !

The last reported location for your iPhone will remain available for 24 hours.

I have logged into my account and tried to access the last know location, as this is stored, but I can't see the location.

The phone is offline.

How can I see the location?

Does apple store this? If so how do I access it?

I really want to locate the phone and get the authorities to track the phone to said address.

Thanks,

Mike

Those messages are scams.  If you've logged in and checked that the system still has the device offline, then someone is trying to hook you with a phishing email or notice.  Ignore them, and go by your iCloud account information.

Honestly, if its been gone for a month and suddenly popped up for real, I'd be very surprised.  Most likely it's been taken apart and sold for parts by now.

yeah, I have just gone through that thought process.

I checked the emails and I think they are scams. I have reported them for phishing.

I just got my hopes up.

The only thing I'm worried about now is, they have my email..do they have anything else?!

This may be a truthful find but Apple themselves may be blocking you from seeing were your phone is. You reported to them that your phone was stolen and after this long it's a safety issue so you do not get hurt. Call Apple support, not email, not chat, call them and talk to someone in IT. Have them look your account up and your phone number. Do not respond to the email  Good Luck

Apple makes no record of lost or stolen devices and actually does not get involved with them at all. There is no place to report a lost or stolen device to Apple, and they don't keep records of that at all. They will also not interfere with find my iPhone or your use of your iCloud account with your devices. If your iCloud account says a device is offline, it is offline, not blocked by Apple.  They will never interfere with your device accessing the system - for one thing, lost mode or remote erases would never work if they did that.

As explained in their own technical document - If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch is lost or stolen - Apple Support - Apple does not itself get involved with lost or stolen property. They provide a service, iCloud and find my iPhone for consumers to use, but the use of and control of those tools is entirely with the consumer themselves.
