Q: Accidentally tampered with Resource file on Mail app, app won't open.

I am using a 2015 Macbook Air, I was trying to clear up space on my hard drive when I moved the 'Resource' folder in the Mail app package contents to the trash. Realizing this was a mistake, I put it back where I found it only to discover the app will not open at all (the icon looks as shown). Is there anything I can do?

Restore OS X using OS X Recovery.

 

As you have discovered, it's better to not delete system files.
