Q: Why does sign out of icloud delete docs from PC?

Need to sign out of icloud to reconfigure my video cards...get a warning that says any docs stored in the icloud will be deleted from my PC...I am now afraid to do so...why is this and how do I get them back?

The warning message you get when you sign out of iCloud on a computer or device is telling you that the locally stored version of that iCloud media will be deleted from the computer or device. It does not mean that it will be deleted from iCloud. You have access to that media via your iCloud account. They appear and are accessible on your device or computer as long as you are signed into that iCloud account. But when you sign out, the "link" is broken, so you can no longer see or access them. Once you sign back in to your iCloud account, the media will redisplay in its correct place.

Thanks, Gail! I take that to mean that the documents I have stored in my PC will not be deleted?

Depends on where you have them stored. If you have them stored in iCloud Drive, then they will remain in iCloud Drive, and when you sign back in to your iCloud account, you will see them in iCloud Drive again.

If you have copies of them elsewhere in your computer (other folders), then they will remain even when you have signed out of iCloud.

    Does that make sense?

Good luck with that Pedro.  I just did that and now I no longer have any of my files local from iDrive.  I would first copy all of your files out of the iCloudDrive folder to another local one the safeguard them!

Did you sign back in to the iCloud account that the iCloud Drive was associated with? Did you check iCloud Drive on iCloud.com via your Computer browser? Unless you removed them, they are still there.
