Q: Not holding charge and no response from enter button

My phone is not holding a charge.  Losing power even when not in use.  Also the button to change screens is not as responsive or doesn't work at all.

Take a look at this for some troubleshooting suggestions.

If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won't charge - Apple Support

You might want to give this a try for the button responsiveness issue. I know that you need the button to do this, but give it a try.

Try a forced restart. No data is lost with this procedure. Hold down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears on the screen.

If the device still will not hold a charge, you should make an appointment at an Apple Store and ask them to evaluate the device for you.

The only response was the low battery symbol even though phone was plugged in to charger.

Did the forced restart help with anything at all? is that way allowed you to see the low battery symbol on the screen?

If the battery runs very low, it can take a number of hours for it to recharge. You can try leaving it plugged in overnight and see if it will recharge.
