Q: deteriorating battery health

Is this normal?

I have a mac book pro mid 2012 that I recently replaced the battery. The battery has a design capacity of 5770 mAh, with only 9 load cycles the maximum charge capacity has dropped to 5301 mAh.

This concerns me because battery replacements are not cheap and I would like to make this one last for a long time.

MacBook Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9.2), 13-inch Mid 2012

Installing a third party battery in a MBP is like playing Russian roulette, some times you win, some times you lose.  Many third party batteries are prone to early failure, especially the bargain ones and may cost more in the long run than one from Apple.  To date, based on the experience of veteran ASC participants and my own, only two brands of third party batteries have demonstrated to be acceptable with MBPs, Anker and NuPower.

Download CoconutBattery.  It will show the original battery charge capacity for a new one which you may compare with the results that you are experiencing.

    Ciao.
