Q: Rental Movies Keep Disappearing! Frustrating!

I rent a movie to watch later! (example1): I go that evening and it's there but I want to watch it later and it says I have "29" left! and the next day it's gone. (example 2): In "my movies" it shows a rental but there's nothing in there! (example 3). It says there's 2 movies but there's only one! (example 4): It never shows up anywhere after renting! (example 4): I have 2 rentals and I watch one of them and go to the my movies and they're both gone the next day!

The may be other examples but rentals are a problem for me! I always rent on Apple TV because it was better than renting online due to it not showing up in Apple TV unless my iTunes was open and my computer to watch it from there!

Also if I buy or rent a movie on Apple TV it doesn't recognize that on iTunes but it does on Apple TV and other devices. There doesn't seem to be a 2-way communication between Apple TV, iPhone, iPad and the computer version of iTunes?

I have had several chats & phone calls with Apple (they are supper people) and it slow to get anything resolved! Once I purchased a movie and it was all narration through the whole movie! Finally they refunded my money after 3 weeks of trying to get it to play. Then two months later it shows up on my computer iTunes movies and plays perfect if I mirror it to my TV. Go figure?

I am running iTunes 10.4.3.1 and OS 10.11.6

Mac Mini (late 2012), OS X Yosemite (10.10.3), iTunes 12.1.2

    You did not specify what generation Apple TV you are using and what version software is installed, so it's difficult to suggest anything.

    Obvious tips...

    You should update iTunes to v. 12.4;

    Reset ATV by disconnecting the power cord for 30 seconds;

    Check in Settings if a software update is available;

    Log og in using the Apple ID that was used to rent the movies.

    I have the New Generation Apple TV and it updates automatically most of the time. I check it though to make sure. I am very conscience about my software. I spent 5 hours talking to Apple about this problem on Monday. They are great people but they don't make the software. Hopefully the software people get these threads!

    Actually, No. You are not addressing Apple here.

    You won't get a reply, but Apple reads and catalogs all feedback.

    If you download a rental and then watch something else it will overwrite what is already there. if you want to download rentals and watch them later without worrying about watching other content in-between, download it to iTunes on your computer and watch it via home sharing.

    I appreciate all your feedback but I can see that some of you answers are trying to overcome existing problems with hardware & software. Thank you so much for your help.

    The Apple TV is a streaming device, it isn't going to store the rental.  If you rent on Apple Tv it won't show up elsewhere as it is not a purchase. If you don't intend to watch right away the better option is to rent via computer so it will be ready when you want to view it.
