Q: iPhone 6 plus intermittent unresponsive screen

So a couple days ago, my iPhone 6+ began having intermittent screen responsiveness. First time, I received a phone call and couldn't answer it because the swipe wouldn't work. I turned it off and back on with no luck. I reset it and that fixed it. That was the only issue that day. I the last few days it's becoming more frequent. Today alone I've had to reset it eight times.

What it's doing;

  • touch screen is unresponsive to touch entirely.
  • touch screen responds after a delay
  • I tap an app icon and the app two rows up opens instead.
  • from loch screen-can't answer phone calls or notifications.

Sometimes it just leave it alone and come back to it and it's fine. Sometimes I leave it alone and come back with same result and I have to reset it. Sometimes I reset it once and trying to unlock with touchscreen (because touch ID doesn't work after reset) doesn't work so I reset it twice. It has worked after the second time, so far.

The phone is in perfect condition. Never been dropped. Was updated to 8.3 the day it was released so the issue didn't arise immediately after an update.

Anyone having these issues?

iPhone 6 Plus, iOS 8.3

I have this issue also. My phone is 1 year and a half old. Apple does not want to repair the phone or replace it unless I pay around 400$ te "replace" it. I live in Quebec province, I could go to `la cour des petites créances` but the waiting time is around 500 days.... 16 Month, there is no way I can wait that long.... I am very frustrated about this situation and find this unacceptable.... I will be posting a article on MacQuebec.com and this will be retweeted a lot of time after.... Apple, if you read this, make it right and replace my phone for free.... a 1200$ device that fail after this amount of time is NOT NORMAL....

What about if they just replaced the screen, is that warranted for 90 days, also?  I was under warranty when they did that but not now and problem has returned.

Any repair is warranteed for 90 days or the remainder of the original device warranty, whichever is longer. However, there's some evidence that the problem is not the screen itself, but the screen electronics, which is on the logic board.

Thanks, I have a Genius bar appointment scheduled for next week.  Do they have a fix?  the more I read the more it seems like a design issue with the 6.

They don't really have a fix. While there are a lot of phones affected, I doubt it's a major design issue, because there are 230 million iPhone 6's in use, and if it was a major issue there would be millions of reports. The actual number that I have seen is in the hundreds. Some users have had success asking to speak to someone higher up, and have gotten their phones replaced.

Lawrence this is the response I got from Apple - They are really concerned about this issue!

Apple really cares about their customers....  :-(

Ugh how mighty they have fallen. Loyal customers is hard thing to build especially after such slight. Apple backer in the dark ages, when they almost disappeared....Apple is not the same company to deserve such following anymore.

I agree. I had no issues paying a premium price because Apple stood behind their products. That isn't the case anymore. If you criticism them on this site they take down your posts. I am glad that a lot of news agencies are picking up on this issue. I sure won't pluck down $1,000.00 for an iPhone 7 when my iPhone 6 plus wasn't able to make it two years.

Not sure if you guys are still keeping up with this issue, but it's grown rather prominent and is picking up steam. All you have to do is do a quick search for iphone 6 (Plus if you want) and you'll find out that there are people even filing a class-action lawsuit because of this issue. I hope it all gets fixed and best of luck to everyone.

Let's see: There's a class action lawsuit against Starbucks, claiming that their cold drink sizes are false advertising because they include the ice in the volume of the drink. Showing that anyone can file a lawsuit about anything.

Hoping to see them lose a fortune.  They deserve it for their terrible customer service on this issue

    Hundreds... per days?

I went yesterday on a small apple store in France to discuss the issue and the solution they could give.

The diagnostic took 5 seconds to the genius guy. Since several week, they see this issue 10 times per day (i repeat, on a small apple store, so the estimation you give is really strange or miss the "per day" ). It cannot be fix by apple, the only solution for them is to change the phone. He confirmed it was due to the 2 Touch IC chips.

As i am on my second year of garanty (thank you EU laws) the reseller will have to take care of the replacement, so now i am waiting for a new phone... That will probably have in one year the same issue.

Have a similar problem. Screen intermittently on turn on does not respond to touch and also partly 'white's out' - the screen image looks much paler, is covered by a white haze and looks slightly oversized. Turning phone off & on usually works but not always. Hard reset also doesn't fix.

Have also had problems with phone slowing a lot recently and is not a memory issue.

Yet more unreliabilly issues with Apple! We pay a huge premium for their so called better quality products but get nothing of the sort. I've had serious problems with everyone of my iPhone's and iPads all of which needed exchanging but not all exchanges resolved the problem.

Interesting also that all these problems now occuriNB (another editor imposed typo) just weeks before 2 year contract ends & iPhone 7 due for release....?

ANd when are Apple going to fix this forum editor for iPad use. Unbelievably crude & error prone & has had the same problems for years.

SAmsung, LG and others seriously beckon I think!!!

I also returned my iPhone 6+ using AT&T's insurance because of the lines across the screen & ghosting. Received my refurbished phone & 6 weeks later it is ghosting.
