Q: Macbook Air Speaker bad interference

Hi all,

My family gave me an 11" macbook air roughly one year ago. I've had no bugs, software or hardware problems. I keep it in a case and do not leave it charged overnight. Everything is running fine and I mainly use the computer for word processing and emails, no games or anything so bad. Nothing has been spilled on the computer even remotely.

I was trying to Skype my girlfriend and I noticed that the audio became slightly scratchy when she spoke; when there was no output, it stopped. Eventually it got so bad within a matter of seconds I couldn't even hear speech, it was only static, and then the audio cut out completely. I tried restarting the app and the same thing happened again; the audio was fine but then got progressively worse and I needed to hang up. I tried calling her on FaceTime, and the same issue occurred but took a little bit longer to do so.

Later on, I tried watching youtube on Safari and the same issue happened. iTunes had the same issue; started out fine, then growing static until it became impossible to hear the original content. This only happened when audio was coming from the speakers. Any ideas on what this could be? Never had this issue before.
