Q: LiveType's Live Fonts not loading

I've been using LiveType for ages but not in the past few months.

On starting a new project I noticed none of the installed Live Fonts will load.

I've re-installed the app and the same thing: no Live Fonts.

I've looked in the Library/Application Support/LiveType folder and they're all there but seemingly invisible to the app.

Anyone any clues, please?

    El Capitan broke Live Fonts.

If you need them, and if you have the installer (or Recovery HD) for an earlier OS consider creating a partition to install it on and run LiveType from it.

    Thanks for the response Russ.

From what you say, it seems a 10.11 (El Capitan) issue that's broken the link that LiveType had to its Live Fonts folder?

If so, it would be nice if Apple could troll through its own apps and make sure they still work with their OS updates instead of just abandoning them.

Maybe I'll just use LiveType on an older networked iMac using a more lowly OS which still works and transfer the output.  Pity.

But thanks so much again for your advice, Russ.  I may still give it a shot when I've more time.

    Cheers,

    Sounds good.

I believe it's been more than five years since LiveType – and a number of other pro apps – were supported. For example, Motion 4 has not worked since Mavericks. A little surprising that most of them still work – although there are some assorted issues.

    Good luck.

    Thanks again, Russ.

    Excellent advice.

Pity Apple cannot at least ensure older pro apps just carry on working.  They don't necessarily have to "support" them in the sense of providing updates.

Interesting to hear Motion 4's kaput as well as I was considering working on that.

    But we'll soldier on.........
