Q: Jumpy video when exporting as quicktime movie

Hi Folks,

 

When I export from FCE to Quicktime Movie the video is jumping intermittently. I have rendered all the video first and am still getting the same results. Curiously I have tried exporting as a Quicktime Conversion file and it is working perfectly (no jumpy images). The movie is six minutes in length. I have exported many files as Quicktime Movies and always had very good results. This is the first time I have seen this problem. Any assistance greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    What are your system specs – both hardware and OS version?

     

    Bring up the QuickTime inspector (command-i) for both clips (the one that drops frames and the one that doesn't). Take a screen shot of the inspector report and post so we can note any differences.

    Thanks for writing Russ. The specs on my machine are:

    Processor 2 x 2.4 GHz quad core intel xeon

    Memory 24 GB

    Start up disk Macintosh HD

    Mac OSX Version 10.6.8

    Note: Both of these shots are from the same scene. But the first time used it jumps and the second time it is ok.

    Also the shots either side of both of these are ok.

    Looks like 2 inspector reports for the same file. Same name, same path. I was looking any differences in properties between the files from QT Conversion and QT Movie.

     

    If the same file plays smoothly sometimes and not other times I would suspect the graphics card.
