    IMHO, the AJT could still use some input on the waste of SPACETIME... It does not take an Einstein to see how this SPACE adds to the TIME it takes for us to interact with the forum

    Hot off the presses.

    What's a "press"? Why does it make your revelation "hot"?

    tt2's   Apple Support Communities - Minimal - Themes and Skins for Apple - userstyles.org enabled with Restyle the web with Stylish! - userstyles.org still does the trick with "Persistent Question" AND the above WASTED-SPACETIME - AND MORE!!!

    One line in my stylesheet is potentially made redundant, though it won't do any harm to leave it there. The new option does however help iOS users like our friendly neighborhood bobfather, or even me when I use my iPhone to check in.

    I can't figure out whether I am Peter Cook or Dudley Moore in this little sketch

    Can you confirm that Helpies have RETURNED to Banner Position (or do I need more coffee? Maybe Irish?)

    There is a new ASC preference that allows the heretofore persistent question banner to be suppressed without needing custom CSS, and in a way that works in both mobile and regular browsers.

    Without custom CSS a thread that has helpfuls will still show those first and hide other replies until you click the more to the conversation link. (So no changes there.)

    1st part - I guess I should have been more clear about my understanding of the issue ... to wit = I KNOW

    BTW, Android Firefox allows add-ons (Stylish) and your Minimal style works like a charm!

    I am guessing that I have become so comfortable with your WONDERFUL style sheet that I simply forgot about what it was always like!!

    Now, howzabout getting rid of the "SOLVED" pinned post for us? (we are, in fact, the only folks using any of the CSSes anyway - I can see the screenshot-discussions.apple.com 2016-09-01 11-52-20.png on the lists)

    Do you have any idea why images INSERTED 'inline' contained within a line of text is 'superscripted' in position - AND yet a PASTED image is NOT?

    *by INSERTED I mean camera tool or Drag&Drop

    I can hide the answer, but at the moment that just makes a lot of empty whitespace so I'm inclined to leave it alone.

    The default position for an image is in line with the bottom of the text that surrounds it. Depending on where and how you add an image it might be floating around in an otherwise empty paragraph. It is also possible that the image may get tagged with class or inline style information that controls any padding, border or margin. You can usually clear this using the remove formatting tool in the advanced editor.

    2nd ¶

    Here is what I do in each case (I don't care about images that are NOT contained within a sentence)

    1. save an image to computer - screencap or save doesn't matter
      here is what it looks like in WinPaint (but applies to Mac apps too)
      Screenshot 212.png
      see how it has LITTLE space around the subject matter?
    2. Camera tool insertion >screenshot-discussions.apple.com 2016-09-01 11-52-20.png< gives ya this = there are NO spaces left or right of the image either
    3. If I open the image, select all, copy, then PASTE >< it does this

    In #2, you can select the image and easily see all the white space (of which Apple is so fond) surrounding the image (I'll get to the "tools" in a second)

    ===

    The "Picture" tool has only 'Image Float, Display' positions (with "text wrapping" characteristics) AND a choice to remove 'auto-scaling' if it has been applied.

    ===

    I will post this now, then EDIT the post (automatically opens in advanced editor) and poke around as you suggest

    I admit defeat in finding the "remove formatting tool" in  the advanced editor

    The HTML editor has this when one PASTEs an image

    <img alt="" class="jiveImage image-1" src="https://discussions.apple.com/servlet/JiveServlet/downloadImage/745096/pastedIma ge_1.png" style="max-width: 1200px; max-height: 900px;" />

    The html encoding this image >screenshot-discussions.apple.com 2016-09-01 11-52-20.png< is:

    <a href="/servlet/JiveServlet/showImage/2-30592025-745082/screenshot-discussions.a pple.com+2016-09-01+11-52-20.png" style="font-size: 18px; color: #0088cc;"><img alt="screenshot-discussions.apple.com 2016-09-01 11-52-20.png" class="image-1 jive-image jiveImage" height="22" src="/servlet/JiveServlet/downloadImage/2-30592025-745082/screenshot-discussion s.apple.com+2016-09-01+11-52-20.png" style="border: 0px; font-weight: inherit; font-style: inherit; font-family: inherit;" width="23" /></a>

    The first wrapper is the code that makes it a clickable link that will be used to show the full size image, assuming it has been scaled. I don't know if there are any particular CSS properties attached to the anchor element but this is what it looks like if that is removed:

    >screenshot-discussions.apple.com 2016-09-01 11-52-20.png< so that's a no.

    Next there are three class labels attached to the img tag; image-1, jive-image, and jiveImage. Here is the same image without the jive-image class label>screenshot-discussions.apple.com 2016-09-01 11-52-20.png< so it must be responsible for the added padding/margins. A closer peek with the inspect element tool says that it adds a 12px margin.

    The above LINK does NOT exist as an image anywhere in the posts here!!

    I pasted the image - copied from Paint - LOOKED at and copied the HTML - THEN DELETED the image -- merely pasting the CODE that I had copied
