Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Community. It sounds like your daughter's phone is running into an issue with the activation lock, and I know how important it is to get it working again. Don't worry though, I have some info that should help.
If the error message you are seeing is related to an activation lock, you can remove the device from your iCloud using your computer and the instructions listed in this article: Turn off Find My iPhone Activation Lock
