Jun 28, 2016 5:14 PM in response to loulour1982by Ssimmons27,I've had the exact same problem since I bought my 6s a couple of months ago. I thought it was something with the recipients because it was only happening with a few people. I, too, thought it was just me. I'm glad (kind of) to see that it's not so isolated. However, the "this update or the next" reply is not reassuring... I worked in telecommunications customer service once. Those types of answers usually indicate not only is an answer unknown, but there isn't a lot of initiative to resolve it, either.. I don't mean to stir the pot.. I just hope it is escalated and resolved timely. -
Jul 5, 2016 5:41 AM in response to loulour1982by Simon H UK,I have the same issue, proper PITA, the watch always shows it as being "read" but iPhone 6 w 9.3.2 changed back to "delivered".

Jul 13, 2016 7:02 AM in response to loulour1982by Jockzen,I have this problem with my iPhone 6 with the latest update. When I'm texting a iPhone 4S that can't get the latest updates anymore, then it changes from delivered to read and back again.
But after been reading this thread I don't think that's the problem anymore that it's an old phone. Started when I got updated to iOS 9.0 I'll guess.

Jul 14, 2016 4:22 AM in response to Svschroeby Elena_Gl_Ur,Hello! I have the same problem. How did you solve the problem?
-
Jul 14, 2016 6:16 AM in response to Elena_Gl_Urby Wayne2764,As of now, there isn't a fix. This has been an onging issue for 6 plus months. Not even a fix with previous iOS updates that have been released. I'm hoping with iOS 10 release in the fall it will be fixed. Fingers crossed.

Aug 11, 2016 1:21 AM in response to loulour1982by The D-Money,I don't know if someone already mentioned this, but I found out that it only does it when you "kill" the app (exit it out from running in the background). Also, if you turn your phone off then back on afterwards, it'll show as read again, and when you kill your app again, that particular message will never glitch and change back to "deliver". BUT, if you send another message, it shows that the person read the message, and you "kill" the app, the message will change back to saying "delivered" once again. Then turn your phone off and back on again, and it fixes. Again. And the process will repeat.
Basically if you never kill the messaging app, it will never have this glitch. But kill the app after seeing your message as read=read changes to delivered. Reset phone=problem solved.
I still don't know how to fix the issue, as Apple will probably have to get involved, but it at least explains when it happens and how to avoid it.

Aug 17, 2016 9:44 AM in response to loulour1982by tracygraeber,OK I've had this issue to for a while here's what I just did & it seemed to work. Turn iMessage off in settings, do a hard reset on the phone (holding down home button and power until you see the Apple logo), then once the phone restarts, go back to iMessage, turn it on and activate iMessage. problem should be resolved . Not for sure for how long but it worked for me. I've even close the app and come back to it and it still shows my messages read!!! Hopefully this helps you!

Sep 1, 2016 12:25 PM in response to loulour1982by Zae P.,Its actually a fairly simple explanation. There isn't a bug with the software you can change a read receipt from "read" to only "delivered" by going back into your settings and turning the read receipts off after the message is sent. The message will then change the read receipt to just "delivered". This was probably done by the person on the other end to avoid you seeing that they read the message and then expect a response right then and there. Its actually kind of polite in a way but it saves the angst of seeing that someone read your message and didn't reply promptly.

Sep 3, 2016 5:54 PM in response to Zae P.by Wayne2764,Zae...I don't think your following the actual problem. Go back to page 1 and read the full complaint. This problem isn't that the other person is switching the read receipt off, this is truly a software issue. Look at this picture, look at the times delivered and times read.
How can a text show read at a time later than a text delivered. The last text did show read at 7:35am but then changed on its own back to just delivered. I'm really hoping with the soon release of Ios 10 this will be fixed.

Sep 7, 2016 2:38 PM in response to loulour1982by emileepsegroves,I have this problem as well.. not a whole lot of my friends have their read receipts on to begin with but out of everyone that does it has done this to me as well. I know its a minor issue but it really is rather annoying. I am also using a Iphone 6+ and it doesnt seem to do it with neither my brother's 5, my dad's 5, nor my boyfriends 5. I would send a message to my boyfriend and he will read it then i will go back to it and it says delivered. Still dont know what causes it. Frustrating.
