Q: Mac Pro Initial Setup with a Wireless Keyboard

I am setting up a Mac Pro out of the box and all I have is a wireless keyboard. Can/how can I get the Mac Pro to recognize the wireless keyboard before I have access to System Preferences?  Thank you!

    According to Apple...

    • Set up your Apple wireless devices - Apple Support

    Magic Mouse 2, Magic Keyboard, Magic Trackpad 2

    Follow these steps to set up your Magic Mouse 2, Magic Keyboard, or Magic Trackpad 2:

    1. Connect the Lightning to USB cable to the Lightning port on the device, and connect the other end of the cable to your Mac.
    2. Make sure the device's power switch is in the ON position. (Green will be visible.)
    3. The device appears in Bluetooth Preferences and automatically pairs with your Mac.
    4. The Bluetooth Preferences window shows the connection status and charge level of your device. When the device is charged, unplug it for wireless use.

    Note: Magic Mouse 2 can't be used while connected to the cable.

    {However IF you happened to get an iMac with BT keyboard,

    that is (paired and) supposed to work right out of the box.}

    And then, there is this: (just in case you need to)

    Identify your Apple wireless mouse, keyboard, or trackpad - Apple Support

    The method I use, is to always have a wired USB keyboard/mouse handy.

    Not sure if this may be helpful, but seems promising nonetheless...!

    Thank you for your response. I have an older Apple wireless keyboard and it does not have a lightening port or any other type of port :-{

    It typically works unless the KB is trying to pair with another device or the KB was previously used on another device and the KB was not forgotten or removed from the previous device.
