Q: Where is 'Photo Library' and how can I get rid of it?

I've been pestered by messages both on iPhone and macbook to the effect that I need to buy more iCloud space. As I barely use iCloud, I investigated and I discovered that most of the 5GB is taken up with iPhone backup. So I went through all the tedious menus on my phone and discovered that the backup size is 2.5GB, of which 2.2 GB is 'Photo Library'.

But there are no photos on my iPhone. At least no visible ones. And no photos in the 'recently deleted'. I always delete them as soon as I've imported them to my computer. So where is this 'Photo Library', and how can I get rid of it?

All help and suggestions appreciated.

    Hello TimK,

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Community. I know how important it is to be able to rely on your iCloud storage especially if you use it as your primary backup. If your backup is taking up more space than it should you may want to remove it from iCloud and start a new one. This article will help you with that process.

Just as a heads up if you have any photos in that backup they will not be able to be restored.

If you run into any trouble, let us know. The whole community is here to help.
    -Best Regards.
