Q: Syncing manually with iTunes

After upgrading my 4S iPhone to iOS 9.3.4, I cannot synchronise my OutLook calendar or contacts with my iPhone. Is there anything I should do?

Which version of Outlook? Are you talking about Outlook on a personal computer, or are you referring to Outlook with an Exchange account?

I am using OutLook 2010 on a personal computer, where my default email account is not a exchange account although I have an Exchange account also.

Outlook 2010 should continue working, mine does. What version of Windows are you using, and what version of iTunes? For iTunes, please do not report the latest version, please provide the actual version number.

I suggest going in iTunes to Edit>Preferences>Devices, and Reset your Sync History. Try after that. Then with your device connected to iTunes you can test the Diagnostics by going to Help.

Followed the suggested procedure! Run Diagnostic test successfully completed! Tried to synchronise but again unsuccessfully!

Before carrying on with the last suggestion for the Microsoft issue, I tried to synchronise once again after deleting the Synchronising History. I doing so I received a iTunes error "iPhone 4S cannot be synchronised. iTunes error (-54)".

Does this bare any significance in resolving the problem?

Check out the troubleshooting instructions in this support document about error -54.  If you see error -54 when you sync with iTunes - Apple Support

    Dear Chris4203,

I have tried everything as per all above suggestions. The only thing I achieved was to sync the calendar on my iPhone with the Microsoft Exchange account in my Outlook app. I still cannot sync my iPhone contacts and Calendar with my default POP3 account in Outlook. If you think of something else please let me know.

    Thanks!

Sounds like to me you are trying to do a couple of different things here. You are trying to use the native calendar, and also the Outlook app. It also appears that you have an Exchange account. I'm thinking that you are referring to something other than syncing a calendar with your POP account. I'm guessing that you are just referring to the fact that you have a POP account in Outlook on the computer, and that has a calendar and your contacts? Are you syncing contacts with this Exchange account? I ask why are you using the Outlook app and the native Mail app on the device? Is this to keep things separate?

    Dear ChrisJ4203,

There really seem to be a very big misunderstanding. I have a POP account which in the past used to sync with my contacts and the calendar on my iPhone every time I connected my device with iTunes on my Laptop. After the iOS update to 9.3.4 was installed (by the way I have since installed iOS 9.3.5 on my device) neither the calendar nor the contacts on my device would not sync. I also had a MAPI email account on my computer and on my device, which recently was upgraded by Microsoft to an Exchange account. Following this I have reinstalled the former MAPI account as Exchange account on both the computer and my device without transferring the contacts of the Exchange account to my iPhone. The situation at the moment is that I still cannot sync my contacts on my iPhone with those of the POP account on my computer as I used to. After trying all your above suggestions it appears that the calendar of my POP account on the computer can sync with my iPhone.

    Any further suggestions?

    Thank you.
