Q: Itunes not playing rented movie

Itunes on El Capitan (both the latest) doesn't allow me to play my rented movies.  Once fully downloaded and I click to play the movie I receive a black screen.  The movie counter does not move even when the play button is pressed.  If I go to the chapters area I can see 'still pics' of each chapter, but the movie itself will not budge.  Black screen, no movement and no sound.  Can any one help as I am no longer able to watch my paid for and rented movies.  Running off a mac mini late 2012 model, 2.6ghz i7. Many thanks.

Mac mini (Late 2012), OS X El Capitan (10.11.6)

To add insult to injury, it seems that pressing play had initiated the 48hr viewing period. And the movie has not even been watched, unless a black screen is considered viewing experience.

Are you connected to the internet when trying to watch the rented movie?

    Hi WvanRiet,

I got a same issue, and had conference with Apple support after an email. Haven't got it resolved, but got refunded :-)

Support Engineer suspected that did i connected my Mac Book with additional Screen/Display.e

Since i was using external monitor, when i have downloaded this movie, this may be the reason, it was not played when i clicked play button at my home.

But i managed to watch the movie, after i have transferred the purchase from Mac to iPhone 5. Eventhough i said, am not qualify for a refund since i watched the movie in Phone, Apple iTunes Support peoples had courtesy and did the refund

Please try with Apple iTunes store support.

    Thanks,
    Karthik
