Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities. I know having an issue with saving files on your Mac is not what you expect. If I understand correctly, you are unable to save Powerpoint files on your Mac, but other files, such as Word or Excel, will save as expected. I have 2 suggestions to narrow down and resolve this issue, but you may have to contact Microsoft Office support as this maybe an issue with Powerpoint:
1. You can figure out if unexpected behavior is related to a user file or setting by trying to reproduce the issue from another user account. This process includes creating a new user account, logging in to it, and testing for the issue.

2. Use safe mode to start up your Mac so that it performs certain checks, deletes system cache files, verifies your startup disk, and attempts to repair directory issues if needed. Log into your user account in safe mode and test the issue again, and then restart your Mac normally and test the issue again.
Try safe mode if your Mac doesn't finish starting up

Cheers!
