Q: my Update page won't download

On Sep. 1/16, updates wanted to download and re-start my iMac.  (I didn't catch what updates.)  So I agreed.  A few minutes later I tried to check the Update page through the App Store, and the Update page will not download ... after several tries.  So I have no idea what status this update is in.  The App Store icon does however, indicate that there is 1 update.

How can I get my Update page to download?

Thanks

iMac (21.5-inch Mid 2011), OS X El Capitan (10.11.6)

It sounds like the update may have not been installed.

Then click:  Update the software on your Mac.

    Thanks Carolyn.

I tried what you said, but that's not the issue.

I cannot download the Update page, so when I click the Update button, nothing happens.  All I get/have is a completely blank page.  That page is frozen essentially.  I did what you suggested, but nothing changed.

    Thanks

I phoned Apple Support for this, and at first the woman-tech had me open App Store, click on Updates, and when I got a blank page, choose a "Force Quit" under the Apple which changed nothing.

Then in App Store, under Store, she had me choose "Sign Out" and that changed nothing.

So she had me go again, in App Store, under Store, and choose "Sign In" which caused me to have to sign into my Apple ID.

Once I signed into Apple ID, I was able to click on Updates and see a response - so the problem was solved.

I continued by installing the updates, which worked fine.

The woman-tech said that the update installation probably just got hung up on something.

Just thought I'd post this, in case it helps someone else.
