Q: iTunes wants to delete all apps to sync one

After deleting Youtube to try and update it since I'm on iOS 7.1.2, I learned Google didn't have a cloud backup of it. Thankfully I have a backup of the last version I was using, so I tried to sync it. iTunes then showed that over 3 GB would be free after the sync, which I noticed was from it wanting to delete all my apps to sync one app. Any way to get around this? I've tried syncing my purchases, which hasn't helped in the slightest. I am using the latest version of iTunes, and the device is an iPod Touch 5th gen.

From iTunes 12.1.3 and above apps cannot be transferred from a device into your library. See Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device for general tips. You will likely want to download current versions of all the apps that you use to your current library so that nothing needs to be removed when you want to sync apps from your library to the device.

Another option is to temporarily install an older version of iTunes, e.g. 12.1.2, and create a new empty library into which you can transfer your purchases. You should then be able to revert to your current library and version of iTunes, then import the extracted files. See this collection of iTunes installers for direct download links.
