Q: Mac computer training available in Dallas Tx

I am looking for computer training for Apple Mac computers. I will like to learn from A to Z. I am looking to learn home and business use. I prefer some college classes if possible. Any suggestions?

Through the links at the bottom of every forum page, you can find the Apple stores in the Dallas area. There will be links announcing upcoming free seminars at the store, which will allow you to get exposed to many of the issues.

If you still want a college course, a community college would be more hands-on oriented. Four year colleges mostly presume you already know all that stuff about Macs and other computers as well, and move briskly into programming languages, data structures, algorithms, big-data analysis, and other more advanced topics oriented toward programmers.

    go here

    Apple - Find Locations

    https://locate.apple.com/

type in your address after choosing

    • Sales - will give you a list of vendors, including Apple Stores
      • choose "Workshops" on the several Stores in the area
    • Training - will show a couple of companies that have specific PAID training
      • the one in N. Dallas is "media" oriented - Adobe & Apple apps
    • Consulting
      • " All our consultants complete Apple training programs and focus on key solutions that help a business successfully integrate Apple and third-party technologies. "

I have a "guy" (sole-proprietor) that is an Apple Certified Mac Technician (ACMT) that has done service work on my Mac, but also offers "Learn It" services

Before I got "tired" and REtired, I would answer your question like this...

"Your goals seem overly broad. Could you explain what your 'true goals' are? Tell me a story so that I can understand what those true goals are. Are you seeking expert proficiency in all aspects of the Mac experience so that you can then consult for others? Or, are you seeking proficiency to enhance your business productivity? If so, what is your business? Etc, etc, etc"

This is called the "Discovery phase" of a project or a consultancy.

After understanding your true goals, I would then provide what specific steps I would recommend to accomplish them.

In my experience, the best learning experience is by "doing" - identifying a set of tasks and then attacking them WITH your Mac & apps that are designed to "do the job", asking for help specific to any obstacle that you encounter

Great response. I currently work for a Fortune 500 company and I am looking to make the transition from PC to Mac. My wife works for a college and they utilize Apple. I will like to improve my skills from A to Z. Currently, I struggle with all the basics from setting up a printer to creating a home network and really being productive with the Mac....

    OK.

What Mac and what OS X version do you have?

To get started > Utilize the "Help" menu in the Finder and in Apps. Ask the Help Viewer "keyword" questions and read the results

Macs and PCs "DO" the same things - they are computers with software apps that target certain tasks

If you are a Microsoft Office user on the PC at work, get MS Office for Mac. Ask specific questions about it here

When I have "taught" folks in the past, I have taken the approach of "problem solving" rather than prescribing a "course of study" - do what you "need to do" and ask for help when you get stuck

Use the search function here AND Google Site Search [ search terms site:apple.com ] for specific help from these Discussion forums and Apple Support Docs

There are paid online courses available (search Google for " mac os x tutorials ") - would be much like what you might get at a community college I think.
