Q: Not able to download drivers for bootcamp

Hi, i'm trying to use bootcamp to dual boot with Windows 7. I have a flash drive with windows 7 which I am using as the iso for bootcamp, but It will not let me check the 'download the latest windows software support for apple', as when I select it, it says I need to format the USB in single partition FAT. I did install windows 7 only to not be able to use the internet as there were no drivers. So i removed it in hopes to restart. Any help would be wonderful.

What is the year/model of your Mac? Your USB cannot be used as both a source of the ISO and a destination to create a USB installer. It will fail.

You need to download the ISO from https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows7 and save it to a location on your Mac. Do not mount it.

Run BCA and follow prompts. Use a USB which will be erased/formatted.

Year is 2012 mid macbook pro.

I was able to boot into windows 7 but the only problem is that no drivers transferred over so I was not able to get on the internet. I'm sure there is a way to update the drivers myself but I can't seem to find it.

If a USB flash drive is recognized after Windows is installed, download BC5 drivers for W7 from Install Windows 7 and earlier on your Mac using Boot Camp - Apple Support to a USB2 flash drive, and run setup.exe from Bootcamp folder.

Thats the problem though, the USB isn't recognized on Windows 7. I downloaded the support files for bootcamp on a driver and then booted into Windows, plugged in the USB and it said it could not be recognized.

Are you using a USB2 flash drive? USB3 drives will not work, till after USB3 drivers from BC are installed.
