I don't believe you can change contents explicitly within an app; e.g., News. The iPhone will learn what you like as time progresses.

The Search screen shows trending news items based on your location.
If you would prefer to turn this feature off, go to: Settings > General > Spotlight Search - turn off News.
If you would like to suggest that Apple adds options to exclude and/or specify preferred news sources (similar to adding favourites for the News app), you can submit feedback here:
