In 9 years and 10 different iOS devices Apple has never wiped out any user data.

Seriously? can u prove that mr. finch at level 8, because i can prove IOS Apple did with my daughters notes she had to purchase software to obtain her notes as the cloud/itunes didn't/couldn't restore what it wiped out as well, and it just did it again, this time with an outlook account - funny we have settings turned off for icloud to back up mail - however, it backed it up anyways - problem being we cannot restore - i guess because we have the setting off for mail? so ya - thanks for your help - NOT - basically calling me a liar that at a level 8 - "NEVER" would apple do such a thing - wipe out any user data - ya ok - how can i prove it to you take pictures and email you or ?

I was referring to MY user data. And if it happened to lots of other people there would be millions of posts about it.

But any computer can crash and lose data. That's what backups are for. And that's why Apple gives you two ways to back up iOS device data, either manually or automatically every day. And 6 ways to back up photos. So even if your phone lost some data, you could just restore it from a backup no more than one day old.

Are you referring to using the native Mail application on the iPad, or the Outlook app from Microsoft? Like Lawrence, I've never seen an update on any of my iOS devices delete data from any of my mail accounts. When you say Outlook account, that is a generic term many people use to describe mail accounts being managed by Outlook on their computer. If you use Outlook on a computer, then you could be managing any type of account, POP, IMAP, or Exchange. Any of those could be managed by the native Mail application. They could also be managed by the Outlook app you can get from the App Store, and it was designed by Microsoft.

While it is possible data could be lost from a POP account, since that data only exists on the device, other mail resides on the server, so it could be recovered there. As Lawrence also said, you could recover this data from a backup of the device. The contact sync would be dependent on what type of account you are using and how you are getting those contacts to the device. All of this would require additional details.

just now, the ms outlook account suddenly shows my folders?

problem solved on its own I guess - perhaps after the last update Apple still working behind the scenes or there's a he delay with data updating from servers? Hence iCloud - up in the air - somewhere - right?
