Q: iMac 27 late 2009 Display

I have had my iMac 27 inch Late 2009 since new. Unfortunately in the past few weeks I have had problems with the display showing 5 vertical yellow bars and I am also unable to start it unless I go to SafeMode. In normal mode I end up with a white screen.

I took the iMac to the Genius bar with great hopes, but I was told the it is probably the Graphic Card and because of the age of it they are unable to repair it. I was recommended a third party repairer, but I am not sure if it is worth it.

Any advice?

Only you can decide of it's worth it or not. It won't be cheap. I have the same iMac with the same card and when mine goes unless I can do it myself for a reasonable amount I'll have to move on.

I have taken the iMac in to a repair place recommended by the Genius Bar to fix the graphic issue. Hopefully can be done. I could not bring myself to dispose of my loved Mac!
