Q: iPhoto/Photos library missing from iMovie '08

I am currently using iMovie '08 to edit some video, and need to add a picture overlay. However when I go to the Photos browser, it only shows me Photo Booth and there is no option to import pictures from anywhere else. I am using OS X El Capitan and Photos 1.5. Please advise how I can import a picture in this scenario?

MacBook Air, OS X El Capitan (10.11.6)

iMovie '08 has not been updated to be fully compatible with El Capitan. It cannot show the Photos Library.

If you want to use the Media Browser for your Photos Library update to iMovie 10.1.2.

In the most current version of iMovie you will be able to see your Photos Library in the project media section of iMovie.

Even iMovie '11, version 9.0.9 cannot show the Photos Library.

Thanks! I did eventually find a work around to adding the pictures that I needed for the project. However sometimes the picture-in-picture thing doesn't work and I can't figure out why. Is this another issue with this iMovie version?
