Q: Problems installing leapord?

Hello. Let me start with a summary of my computer. I have a 2006 macbook, it has a 1.83 ghz core 2 duo processor 1gb of ram and a 60gb spinning hard drive. It's also running 10.6.3. I decided to replace the two 512mb sticks with 2 2gb sticks and the spinning hard drive with a 64gb SSD. Everything went fine, and then I put in a recovery disc for snow Leopard  (10.6.8). The process of installing involved making sure the SSD was free of partitions by erasing it in disc utility and then starting the upgrade. It would usually give me a progress bar, sometimes it would get pretty far and other times not at all before I got the message "the installer could not copy the necessary support files" and I've been trying to figure out what the problem is. I know the drove works just fine, I can watch movies on VLC with no issues before the upgrade. Does anyone know what else could be the problem? The disc is in great shape, it's left 100% still while it's upgrading, but it just keeps spitting out this error. Any ideas or help would be much appreciated. Thank you

MacBook, Mac OS X (10.6.3)
