Q: iPad Air 2 (iOS 9.3.5) says "sharing location"- in messages-

I noticed on my iPad Air 2, (iOS 9.3.5) that when using messages, it says

"You are sharing your location" when I click "details".

I never shared my location.

Also, I have "Location Services" turned off. Looked at Settings>iCloud>  and see Find my iPad is ON (but greyed out) and "share my location" under ADVANCED is greyed out.

How do I un grey the Share My Location so I can toggle that off?

Never shared my location in the first place. Thanks.

Hi. Do you have restrictions enabled, Settings > General > Restrictions? Do you have a profile installed, Settings > General > Profile? If it's missing, you don't.

    I have

    Settings>General>Restrictions>On

when I look within that pane, at the top in blue: Disable Restrictions

When I scroll down within that "pane" to Privacy:

Location Services has a Lock (Grayed out)

Contacts has a lock (Grayed out)

a bit further down, :share my location > allow changes is Checked ✔️

    ****

    As for the Profile-

I do not see Settings>General>Profile option at all.

    Thanks for quickly responding.

Are you able to disable restrictions so you can change the settings? Or have the restrictions been applied by someone else? As you said, you do not have any profile.

Yes, I can disable restrictions. (I actually don't remember putting them there)

I'll ask about the profile later.

Ok, so once I disable restrictions, that will let me "fix" this?

If you could: Which settings should I set so my location is never shared?

Thanks. I appreciate you taking the time to help me.

I disabled restrictions- now it shows allow or disallow - but I'm confused as to what to do- I do not want to "lock" my current setting as

"You are currently sharing your location from an iPad Air 2"

I can not disable it from sharing my location. Ideas?

Turn restrictions off and leave them off, unless you need to prevent someone from changing settings. Then change the settings under iCloud and Privacy which were greyed out before. Once you have them they way you need, you can re-enable restrictions if necessary.

You don't need to worry about the profile. If there's no profile, then there's no profile. The setting only appears if it's enabled.

I have turned off and left them off. I changed  the settings but it is still showing that I am sharing my location. ( I can view it from another device)

To make matters worse, Messages  will not let me sIgn in now.

I have  contacted Apple  and they will be calling me in 10 minutes.

Thanks for your help and I will report back with any info i get from them.

You probably need to force quit the iMessages app for settings changes to take effect. A restart wouldn't hurt either, hold Sleep and Home buttons until the Apple appears

We did that- it didn't change it. Apple Tech was stumped, too.

We went through all the settings and couldn't figure it out.

Texted a few people but they couldn't see my location.

Thanks for your input, appreciate it.
