Jul 3, 2011 8:09 PM in response to Linc Davisby rexwriter,I think I figured it out, and if so, I feel pretty stupid. I'm in a hotel and using their network. When I disconnect from the network I do not see the shared servers any longer. Does this mean that they are not stored on my computer and are on the network I'm on?

Sep 4, 2016 1:01 PM in response to Linc Davisby atyclk5,HI,
I just noticed this yesterday on my computer too. I've never enabled any services and my firewall is always enabled. So if I disconnect from the network, this whoever server tapped into my computer won't be able to connect with my network?
Thanks in advance.

Sep 4, 2016 1:18 PM in response to atyclk5by Grant Bennet-Alder,"shared" devices in Mac parlance are "made available to be used". These are not YOUR devices, they are other devices on the network, which you may attempt to use if you wish.
Because you have a premium quality Macintosh, such devices are accessed in the same way as file on a directly-connected drive that you control. There is no special mumbo-jumbo involved in using these devices. The Finder can attempt to explore them for you, if you like.

Sep 4, 2016 1:58 PM in response to Grant Bennet-Alderby atyclk5,Thanks for responding so quickly. So is it safe to assume that I shouldn't be worried about this? When I click on it, I was getting a message saying "connecting" but always followed by a "connection failed".
