Q: WiFi fails to connect only in admin account
The symptom -
If I restart my MacBookPro (Retina mid 2012), on the startup (select account) page, the network icon shows as connected. If (on another Mac) I look at the router info page, the mac shows as connected. Also, I just reinstalled OSX to try and fix this, so I know that the machine is connected to the internet.
However, once I've logged into my (administrator) account, the network icon shows the scrolling bars and I'm unable to connect to the 'net.
This started when I was trying to setup a new location in Network Prefs - one with a fixed IP address for when I use the Mac to create a local network. I've deleted that location now, but the Mac still won't connect to the house router. If I open Network Prefs, the page becomes more or less unresponsive (if I click on anything it doesn't respond for several minutes) - I end up having to Force Quit Sys Prefs.
Is there a particular set of prefs in either Library that I should delete to reset everything to default? My next step will be to wipe everything, which is a bit drastic, and I don't know (not having used Time Machine in this way before) whether or not I can filter my old system settings out of any reinstall I do from Time Machine.
thanks for any help or suggestions....
