Sep 4, 2016 6:18 PM in response to Mr Pixelby babowa,FWIW, the drive itself will never show; however, the CD or DVD should if you have the Finder preferences set up to show external media on the desktop: Finder > Preferences > General > show these items on the desktop. The OS should alert you that you've inserted a CD or have Photos/iPhoto open automatically. It now depends on the format - was the CD made as a data disc or was it a slideshow (which would be a video). If it was made into a video, then it needs to have been burned with a burn utility that will allow the CD to be readable in any DVD player. Finalizing only needs to be done on recordings on a DVD recorder; however, video DVDs do need to be burned. If it was made as a data disc, you should be able to open the DVD and then look at the pics if they are (presumably) in a .jpg format. Again, it will depend what and how it was burned to the DVD.
